On 20th July, 22 teen and youth students and teachers from Tissa, Revata, and Moggallana classes visited Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras Selangor (PIICS) in Kajang. After a blessing service by Bhante W. Gnanobhasa Thera at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, they set out with the intention to practise compassion in action and deepen their understanding of the Dhamma.
PIICS supports around 40 underprivileged individuals by providing shelter, food, education, and life-skills training. A heartfelt sharing by the Head of the Home offered inspiring insights into their selfless mission. With humble hearts, the students and teachers offered dāna and essential items, then brought joy through games, snacks, and art activities—creating moments of laughter, inclusion, and genuine connection.
As the visit drew to a close, students mingled, listened, laughed, and shared quiet conversations. In that simple act of being present, hearts opened and Dhamma understanding blossomed. Lessons were learned—not from textbooks, but from life itself.
Upon reflection, the students expressed gratitude—not only for the chance to serve, but for the inspiration drawn from the strength, joy, and warmth of those they met. They left changed, with the realisation that compassion is not just a word, but a living action—and that true giving comes from the heart.
This visit to PIICS was more than just a day out—it was a powerful reminder of what it means to live the Dhamma, not alone, but together with others.
