Our Dhamma School terms follow the national public school calendar. We are generally open on Sundays during school terms and closed during public school holidays. For specific dates, please refer to the BISDS School Calendar.

Buddha Puja
Start the day with Buddhist devotion through puja offerings and chanting to honour the Triple Gem, receive blessings from the monks, and cultivate loving-kindness through meditation.
9:45 am - 10:15 am
Spiritual Friendship
Nurturing kalyāṇa-mittatā (spiritual friendship) with school friends and venerables - the whole of the spiritual life.
10:15 am - 12:00 noon
Dhamma Learning
Deepen your understanding of the Buddha’s teachings through classroom learning and reflection.
As a Dhamma School, we aim to provide holistic Buddhist learning and experiences for all students, while also offering opportunities for parents to get involved. All registered students must attend Dhamma School on Sundays, starting at 9:00 AM and ending by 12:00 Noon. Students are required to arrive early, and class teachers will be with students during all sessions.
Students Attire
All BISDS students are required to dress in formal school attire. The dress code fosters a sense of identity, discipline, and unity, while ensuring that students are easily identifiable during school activities.

The unique design was created by Bro. Ng Lid Sine in 1990 and is symbolic of a vibrant, innovative and caring institute, that is able to provide adequate and inspiring guidance to its young.
- The bright sunshine depicts the rise of a new, fun and sunny day.
- The lotuses (drawn in an abstract fashion) surrounded by colours of the Buddhist flag conveys purity, innocence and wonder in a warm, fun and friendly environment.
- The upright lotus flower in full bloom represents the BISDS staff members who are virtuous in conduct.
- The slender lotus bud represents the students under the compassionate embrace of their teachers.
Staff Attire
All BISDS staff dress in formal attire that reflects the school’s vision, mission, values and learner attributes. This fosters unity, discipline and a clear presence during school activities.

Lotus represents
the Buddhist ideal
Lotus flowers take root in muddy and murky condition and grow into beautiful flowers. Just like the lotus, irrespective of our roots and experiences in life, we can majestically rise to become pure, unsoiled and a joy to others.
The magnificent beauty of the main Shrine Room with rich Sinhalese heritage
The life history of Gotama Buddha unfolds here. Buddhist devotional practice, sutta chanting for blessings and monks’ religious events are conducted in this Shrine Room.
A colossal Buddha Image takes center stage as one step in the main Shrine Room
Flanked by either side of the colossal image of the Buddha are His first and second disciples, Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Moggallana, shown paying their respects to the Buddha. Buddha Image is an object of veneration by all Buddhists.
Bodhi Tree is a symbol of
Buddha’s enlightenment
The two Bodhi Trees (L. Ficus religiosa) in this Vihara are planted from saplings from the Sri Mahabodhi, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The Sri Mahabodhi grew from a sapling from the Bodhi Tree in Bodhgaya, India brought during King Asoka’s reign. Bodhi Tree is an object of veneration by all Buddhists.

The magnificent International Buddhist Pagoda in all its glory and dignity today is an object of veneration by all Buddhists. It contains a minute particle (a bone relic) of the corporeal remains of the Buddha.
A specially built Stupa to intern the ashes of the Late Ven Dr K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thero
Venerable has been a leading light in disseminating the Buddha-Dhamma within Malaysia and abroad. He was a prolific writer who had written more than 74 publications. A life well lived, He passed away on
31st August 2006 at the age of 87.
Wisma Dharma Cakra
Wisma Dharma Cakra houses the Asoka Hall, BISDS Classrooms, Jeta Grove, Bamboo Grove, Isipatana Meditation Pavilion and Bhavana Hall.

The Sarnath Buddha Image seats at the centre of the Isipatana Meditation Pavilion. It depicts one of the most important moments in the Buddha’s life when He preached the first discourse to the five ascetics in Isipatana deer park at Sarnath after His enlightenment.
BISDS Logo
BISDS was first established as a Religious School in 1929 and is now professionally managed by EXCO. The BISDS logo signage symbolizes the Dhamma School existence in this Vihara, housed in the spacious Wisma Dharma Cakra.
